“Our game for human rights” at the This Human World Film Festival

European premiere of the film “5 nanomoles – the Olympic dream of a trans woman”

On 1st December 2024, we were able to experience a unique moment as part of our Our Game for Human Rights project: The European premiere of the film “5 Nanomoles – The Olympic Dream of a Trans Woman” at the renowned Schikaneder Cinema in Vienna. The event was rounded off with a captivating Q&A with protagonist Valentina Petrillo and director Elisa Merghetti.

In addition to the THW Film Festival visitors, guests from other inspiring projects were also present, including Sport for all Genders and Sexualities, in which Valentina is involved as a testimonial for a more inclusive sports landscape. We were also particularly pleased to welcome Martin Munoz, who took the opportunity to bring along a charter for more diversity in sport, which we signed after the film.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Valentina and Elisa for their enriching participation, and we congratulate them on the impressive success of their film. We look forward to future collaborations and wish Valentina every success for her participation in the Paralympic Games in Paris next September.

“5 Nanomoles” tells the moving story of Valentina Petrillo, a Paralympic athlete who is passionately working towards becoming the first transgender woman to compete for Italy in the women’s category at the 2021 Paralympics in Tokyo, despite having visual impairments. Since her transition in 2019, Valentina has fought tirelessly for her right to compete in this category. The film highlights her inspiring journey, including the controversies it sparks, and documents her mission to overcome societal norms and realize her dream.
